I too am writing an application with tabs. Wrote mine "by hand" - some HTML
in a user control, and pass a variable to the UC with the current tab. Bit
basic I know but it does the job :o)

Not exactly tabs per se but I accomplished this by using buttons (!).
I put them all right next to each other in a user control, added a
method that changes the active tab and then used CSS to differentiate
(I basically made the button's bottom border go away and made its
background color the same as the page's and bolded the text so it looks
pretty much like a tab, even though it's just a button). The non-active
'tabs' have a totally different background and have all their borders.
It works, even though it may not be perfect.

Another way of doing the tabs might be to use the Tab control that comes
with the IEControls thingy from ASP.NET - don't know if that's the link that
Steve gave - haven't checked.

The only problem with the IE Tab control is that it's not cross-browser
compatible - of course, if that's not what you're striving for, then it
doesn't matter. :)

In the frames page set the target = "mainFrame" for the frame in which your

TabStrip control and Form

Hi,

I am using a tab strip control on a web page. One of the tabs has a user
control, which has a form with a submit button on it.

If I want to create another form on another tab of the same tab strip
control then, it gives me an error message that only one form can be
created.

I want to create another form with a submit button so that form can be
posted back to the server. Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks

YatinHi,

ASPX page can contain just one server side Form.
You can use the existing Form to send just the current tab controls by
using javascript. Alternetivly you can add regular Forms (without
runat=server) as much as you want

TabStrip control

Do you know where can I get a free TabStrip control (for ASP.Net 2.0) with support for design-time customization, multiple tabs and change tab image?

Hi,

This might help:

http://www.codeproject.com/aspnet/WebTabStripUserControl.asp

You can try modifying it to suit your needs.

HTH,

Vivek

And also this client side tab might fit your need:Tabs.

TabStrip or Tab Controls

I would like to place a tab control on an ASP Web Page. I
don't see a control that I can drag from the toolbox for
either "web forms" or "html" that I can use. Does anyone
know how to do this? There isn't one out of the box. You have to a) download the IE Web Controls
from http://www.asp.net/IEWebControls/Do...index=0&tabid=1, b)
add an association to the ie web controls dll to your project, then c)
manually add the tabstrip capability to the toolbox by customizing the
toolbar to display the items from the ie web controls dll.

Hope this helps,

Tabstrip OnSelectedIndexChanged

Hi,

I've spent a few hours on tabstrip, and I still don't understand why the tabstrip doesn't trigger the function when I change the tab. Can you help me please
Here's my codes;

Sub Do_Something(sender As Object, e As EventArgs)
...
End Sub

<IE:TABSTRIP id="tab2_2" runat="server" OnSelectedIndexChanged="Do_Something"
And nothing happens when I change the tab, though I implement a lot of actions in the function "Get_Something"
Please help. ThanksAutoPostBack=true?
ya, I forgot to set AutoPostBack="true".

It works great if I use it without the PageView.
But if I use OnSelectedIndexChange and ViewPage at same time, then the function linking to OnSelectedIndexChange is not called at all.

Ex: Now, I add a view page to it.
<IE:TABSTRIP id="tab2_2" runat="server" OnSelectedIndexChanged="Do_Something" targetID="view1"
Then the function "do_something" is not called at all, though it correctly displays the view1

So, anyone has an idea to fix that ? So the function is called when we change the tab.
Thank you

TabStrip onmouseover

Is it possible to use this event on the Tab element of the TabStrip. For example when the mouse passes over a tab I would like to pop up an alert box (Java Script). I hope I am making my self clear.

Thanks in advance.WoW, if it's "doable", then it's great. Imagine the Tab panel becomes bigger when we just move mouse over !!
So, anyone have an idea ?!?
Hi,

I guess you can change the look and feel of the tabstrip...
Also you can program for the events on a tabstrip...
Code snippet demonstartes changing the look & feel of a tab strip, while displayed,selected,hovered...
try it out...

Tabstrip with remove item

Hi,
I have a tabstrip/tabcontrol and like to remove a tab when a certain choice
is made. I found the
TabStrip1.Items.Remove(TabStrip1.Items.Item(1)) command. But I would like to
have it rebuild. So when I remove a tab in the middle of more tabs that the
tabs or the right shift back to the left.
Please help,
GertGCE, what is wrong with this?
TabStrip1.Items.Remove(TabStrip1.Items[1]);
Are you trying to do this on the client? When I run the above C# code,
it removes the tab on postback and the tabs are correctly spaced.

Tabview control focus problem

Hi,

I have a yahoo tabview control with 3 tabs in my aspx page. If I am in the third tab and a control fires a postback, then I need the page to load with the third tab in focus. Instead it is showing the default first tab.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Hello,

Because we don't know how to code the third-party control, you may find some codes like this:

<script type="text/javascript">

var myTabs = new YAHOO.widget.TabView('demo', { activeIndex: 1 } ); // make tab at position 1 active

alert(myTabs.get('activeIndex')); // alerts 1

myTabs.set('activeIndex', 0); // make tab at index 0 active

alert(myTabs.get('activeIndex')); // alerts 0

</script>

Or

<li class="selected"><a href="#tab1"><em>Tab One Label</em></a></li>

As shown above, the red lines you see may help you, just change the index number you want.
