I have the following table in ascx , when I click the button the table style
not showing in the popup , it is ONLY showing on the page not in the
popup...WHY?

<TABLE style="BACKGROUND: #d8e8f5;CURSOR:hand" bgcolor="#d8e8f5"
id="tblMenu" cellSpacing="0"cellPadding="2" width="150" border="1">
<TR>
<TD class="standerdfont" >New Document</TD>
</TR>
<TR>
<TD class="standerdfont">New Folder</TD>
</TR>
</TABLE
this table is shown when user click the button as following:
<TABLE id="Table6" cellSpacing="0" cellPadding="0" width="560" border="0">
<TR>
<TH style="HEIGHT: 14px" vAlign="middle" scope="col" align="right" width="67">
<IMG id=imgAddNew
onmouseover="MM_swapImage('Image15','','/images/<%=strImgName_New_O%>',1)"
style="CURSOR: hand" onclick="showMenu('tblMenu',100,44);"
onmouseout=MM_swapImgRestore() height=23
src="MailTools/images/<%=strImgName_New%>" width=59 border=0 name=Image15
></TH
</table
the javascript function is :

function showMenu(menu, width , height)
{

varlefter= event.clientX;
varleftoff= event.offsetX;
vartopper= event.clientY;
vartopoff= event.offsetY;
varoPopup= window.createPopup();
varoPopBody= oPopup.document.body;
varHTMLContent= eval(menu).innerHTML;
oPopBody.innerHTML = HTMLContent;
oPopup.show(lefter - leftoff - 2, topper - topoff
+22,width,height,document.body);
}In yout javascript function your manipulate with variables. You never change
the html of the popup window. Should be

oPopup.document.body.innerHTML = HTMLContent;

I modified it as following and still wont display the table style

function showMenu(menu, width , height)
{

varlefter= event.clientX;
varleftoff= event.offsetX;
vartopper= event.clientY;
vartopoff= event.offsetY;
varoPopup= window.createPopup();
varHTMLContent= eval(menu).innerHTML;
oPopup.document.body.innerHTML = HTMLContent;
oPopup.show(lefter - leftoff - 2, topper - topoff
+22,width,/*newHeight*/height,document.body);
}

tabstrip graphics

I believe it's possible to do the following but I'm not sure. I want to load a graphic or different "design" into my IE Tabstrip control for the tabs. How would I do this and where can I find some free graphics??

<IEWC:TAB DefaultImageURL="images/StatusTabs/Tab_Inop_Unsel.gif" HoverImageURL="images/StatusTabs/Tab_Inop_Sel.gif"
SelectedImageURL="images/StatusTabs/Tab_Inop_Sel.gif" />

i found a tab i liked - altered it with photoshop, made 2 states (hover/selected and unselected) then used as above

images.google.com - used advance search for small gif

Tag prefix

Hi all,

I have two ASP.NET newby questions:

1. what and why are there tag prefixes (example <asp:...)?
2. why doesn't the following code (in VB.NET) render these prefixes?

Dim myTextBox As New System.Web.UI.WebControls.TextBox
Dim oStringWriter As System.IO.StringWriter = New
System.IO.StringWriter
Dim oHtmlTextWriter As System.Web.UI.HtmlTextWriter = New
System.Web.UI.HtmlTextWriter(oStringWriter)

myTextBox.RenderControl(oHtmlTextWriter)
TextBox1.Text = oStringWriter.ToString()

Regards,
BlazWhat are u trying to do?
Do u want to use ASP.NET or VB?

blaz,

Tag prefixes are used by the asp.net compiler to identify tags that should
be processed on the server. All stardard ASP.Net control have the ASP
prefix. If you build your own controls, you can use a custom tag prefix such
as:

<blaz:newlabel id="blazlabel1" runat="server" text="" /
If you notice the rendered HTML output on the client these server controls
have been rendered as standard HTML elements such as <select>, <input>,
<img>, and so forth. Browsers such as IE and Netscape cannot parse a
<asp:label> tag, the server handles this.

For the answer to question 2. What are you trying to do?

Add a text box to a form?
Dim tbFirstName as System.Web.UI.WebControls.TextBox
Page.Controls.Add(FirstName)
Read the text of a textbox?
Dim strFirstName as String = tbFirstName.Text

Thanks for your answers!

About the rendering. Well I am trying to add an ASP.NET WebControls
support to my application that includes a simple HTML Editor. But
can't really figure out how could I generate <asp:...></asp:...>
formatted ASP code from any of the WebControls.

Any ideas?

TagPrefix Defined Globally...?

Hi all,

I have the following register tag for my custom controls on each of my ASPX pages:

<%@dotnet.itags.org. Register TagPrefix="MY" Namespace="MY.Presentation" Assembly="MY.Presentation"%>
Is it possible to make this decleartion globally, say in global.asa or web.config?

Or is it required that each page defines it individually?

Has anyone come across an elgeant solution for doing this? I'm using <!-- Include --> at the moment but surely theres a way of avoiding this?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

SarahThere is no other solution at the moment -- this will be addressed in v2.0 (Whidbey).

Taking a value from a dataset

I trying to get a single values from a dataset however I keep getting the following error please help

 Function get_poll_questions() As System.Data.DataSet

Dim connectionString As String = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Ole DB Services=-4; Data Source=db\database.mdb"
Dim dbConnection As System.Data.IDbConnection = New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection(connectionString)

Dim queryString As String = "SELECT top 1 * FROM tbl_poll_questions ORDER BY pol_question, rnd(pol_ID)"
Dim dbCommand As System.Data.IDbCommand = New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand
dbCommand.CommandText = queryString
dbCommand.Connection = dbConnection

Dim dataAdapter As System.Data.IDbDataAdapter = New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter
dataAdapter.SelectCommand = dbCommand
Dim dataSet As System.Data.DataSet = New System.Data.DataSet
dataAdapter.Fill(dataSet)

strTESTING = DataSet.Tables("tbl_poll_questions").Rows(0)("pol_question").ToString()

return strTesting

End Function

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Source Error:

Line 116:
Line 117:
Line 118: strTESTING = DataSet.Tables("tbl_poll_questions").Rows(0)("pol_question").ToString()
Line 119:
Line 120: return strTesting

Many thanks in advanceMake sure that the SQL has returned any data. Also make sure that pol_question is the correct name of the column.
Also, I havent seen it done like this:

strTESTING = DataSet.Tables("tbl_poll_questions").Rows(0)("pol_question").ToString()

Try this instead:

strTESTING = DataSet.Tables("tbl_poll_questions").Rows(0).items("pol_question").ToString()

Also, since you are doing this:
dataAdapter.Fill(dataSet)

and not giving a table name...the table is not named "tbl_poll_questions". Rather, it is named just "table" or you could use the index of 0, like:

strTESTING = DataSet.Tables(0).Rows(0).items("pol_question").ToString()

In order to use that table name you would have to do:
dataAdapter.Fill(dataSet,"tbl_pol_questions")

Target=_black problem

Hi,

I have to button in my page.

following is the code is

<asp:ButtonID="btn_search"runat="server"OnClick="btn_search_Click"ValidationGroup="btn"ToolTip="Show Report"PostBackUrl="~/RptIndent.aspx"OnClientClick="form1.target='_blank'"/>

<asp:ButtonID="btn_Logout"runat="server"OnClick="btn_Logout_Click" ToolTip="Log out" />

problem is what, i have written on btn_Search onClientClck="form1.target='_blank'">

so it open the report in new window.

bt after if i click on logout button it opens login page in a new window !!!

what is this problem.

Can anybody help me out

It' s urgent !!!

-Sandeep

Surely that should be expected?! You've set the target attribute of the form to open in a new window so of course all requests will follow this target. If you are going to change it for one button, you will have to change it back for those where you don't want this behavior.

Hi,

I understand the thing .

but thing is what i have user control on my web page.

user conrtrol contains logout link button.

in page i have show report button. when i click on show report it opens a new window and show the report.

i close it and click on logout on parent page. it redirect me to login page with a new window.

what to do...

it's an urgent

TargetSchema meta tag and TargetSchema attribute

When creating a new .aspx page, VisualStudio creates a meta tag called"vs_targetSchema" that holds the following value:"http://schemas.microsoft.com/intellisense/ie5". When creating a new.ascx page, VisualStudio create a "TargetSchema" attribute within the@dotnet.itags.org.Control directive which holds this same value.
If I'm building an application that I want to be browser-independant,should I eliminate this meta tag and attribute, should I add additionalmeta tags and attributes, or will any of these actions make adifference?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Hi there,
Just add following in your web.config file.. This should do the job for you.
<browserCaps>
tagwriter=System.Web.UI.HtmlTextWriter
</browserCaps>
Regards,

Thanks a lot for your reply ... I'm going to read up on browerCaps.

However, I'd still like specific information concerning my questions about the TargetSchema metatag and @.Control attribute. I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks again.

targetSchema gets reset

Following MS' recommendation, I have changed the targetNamespace of my
dataset in its .XSD file in a project I am (still) developing from the
default http://www.tempuri.org to something of mine, i.e. changed the line:
<xs:schema id="DataSetIC"
targetNamespace="http://www.tempuri.org/DataSetIC.xsd"
xmlns:mstns="http://www.tempuri.org/DataSetIC.xsd"
xmlns="http://www.tempuri.org/DataSetIC.xsd" ...>
Now, every time I change the database and ask Visual Studio .NET to
regenerate the dataset, it chucks away my changes and resets to
www.tempuri.org, which then fouls my integrations with the dataset.
Is there any way I can get VS .NET to retain my target namespace change?I too wish someone could explain this annoying problem, along with the
fact that (re)generating dataset for a dataadapter also throws away the
keys I defined in the DataSet

Uri,
That's very interesting. Because I have another post elsewhere
(http://communities2.microsoft.com/c...rk.aspnet&fltr=)
which is inspired by *just* what you say. I have suddenly noticed that in
the XSD I had manually defined a unique constraint on behalf of a unique (bu
t
not primary) key I had in my SQL and it gets removed when I regenerate.
Isn't that exactly what you're talking about? I'm tryinjg to find an articl

which describes precisely whatever it is that the (re-)generator does or doe
s
not do, so that I can take this into account -- any ideas?

not do, so that I can take this into account -- any ideas?

Uri,

That's very interesting. Because I have another post elsewhere
(http://communities2.microsoft.com/c...rk.aspnet&fltr=)
which is inspired by *just* what you say. I have suddenly noticed that in
the XSD I had manually defined a unique constraint on behalf of a unique (but
not primary) key I had in my SQL and it gets removed when I regenerate.

I believe we're talking about the same thing. Regarding the article -
haven't seen such an article yet.
